Common questions about IELTS preparation
How long does it take to improve one IELTS band?
Research by Cambridge Assessment English suggests that moving up one band level typically requires 100–200 hours of study — though this varies significantly based on your starting level, learning efficiency, and native language background.
Is it possible to prepare for IELTS in 4 weeks?
Yes, but only if you already have a solid English foundation. 4 weeks is enough to become familiar with the test format and practise strategies. If you are starting from Band 5 and targeting Band 7, 4 weeks is unlikely to be sufficient.
Should I study all four skills equally?
No — identify your weakest skill first (ideally by taking a diagnostic test) and allocate 60–70% of your practice time to it. A one-band improvement in your weakest skill has the highest impact on your overall band score.
What is the best way to improve IELTS Writing quickly?
The fastest path is to write essays and get detailed feedback on all four criteria. Generic "your grammar needs work" feedback is not enough — you need to know specifically which structures you're missing and which errors you repeat.
